CEMES takes part in a discussion at Lisboa Incomum

On 11 October, we will take Ernesto de Sousa’s work *A minha voz é a tua voz* as our starting point for a discussion on memory, archives and identity. An opportunity to reflect on how the records of yesterday can inform today’s dialogue. The event will be attended by composers Marta Domingues and Mariana Vieira; Isabel Alves, president of CEMES (Ernesto de Sousa Centre for Multidisciplinary Studies); Pedro Félix, anthropologist and coordinator of the National Sound Archive; and Ana Telles, pianist and researcher at CESEM (Centre for Music Studies).

Marta Domingues, composer and PhD candidate in Performing Arts and Moving Image at the Faculty of Fine Arts, Lisbon. She composed a multi-channel electroacoustic piece, commissioned by the DME Project (Days of Electroacoustic Music). For this work, I draw on the work of Ernesto de Sousa, specifically the audio recording held in the CEMES archive, corresponding to the ‘Letter to the Collaborators of Nós Não Estamos Algures’ dated December 1969, and not only his artistic output but also his statements and writings, focusing on the idea of poetic communication as a gesture.
