José de Guimarães International Arts Centre, April 26th to July 6th, 2014. Curated by Nuno Faria, with the assistance of João Covita.
This exhibition aims to reactivate Ernesto de Sousa’s research into Portuguese popular art and sculpture, against the background of the 1964 exhibition, Barristas e Imaginários [Clay Modellers and Imaginary Universes], presented in the Galeria Divulgação in Lisbon, which featured the work of four popular artists from Northern Portugal – Rosa Ramalho, Mistério, Franklin Vilas Boas and Quintino Vilas Boas Neto.
The release of the exhibition's catalog includes a debate with the participation of Nuno Faria, João de Sousa Cardoso (stage director of Almada, Um Nome de Guerra in Serralves, 2012), Liz Vahia (author of a critical text in Arte Capital) and Paula Pinto (author of the album O Teu Corpo).
